Heritage Language Summer Institute: Developing a Research Base for the Heritage Field
An invitational symposium convenes to launch the first phase of the Heritage Center's goal to develop a research base for the field. Under the direction of Professor Maria Polinsky, Harvard University, researchers on the grammar of heritage speakers in various languages will meet on the UC Davis campus to exchange ideas, present and discuss their current research agendas and activities, and design the next phases of research. This is the first of yearly summer institutes that will inform all aspects of the Heritage Center's mission, including curriculum development, the creation of course materials and the summer professional development workshops.
A National Heritage Language Conference will be convened by the Center in 2009. Information about that event will be posted here in 2008.
