Graduate Student Research and Conference Award
Canadian Studies at UCLA has a new funding opportunity for currently enrolled graduate students.
The Canadian Studies Program invites currently registered UCLA graduate students to apply for a small research/conference award to support either: 1. Research in Canada on a topic relevant to both Canada and the United States or, 2. Travel to Canada to attend a scholarly conference or workshop to present a talk or poster related to their field of research. All fields of study are open for support. The award may be combined with other support such as graduate travel grants, but must be used expressly to support travel and research costs which are not covered by other sources. UCLA travel accounting practices and regulations will pertain to these awards. Successful applicants will be expected to provide a one page synopsis of their activities and findings at the end of the award. A maximum award amount of $1000 will be provided in 2013.
Applicants should provide a single pdf with a one page proposal (this may include a preliminary abstract for conference requests), a brief budget for use of the funds, a short CV and copy of current UCLA transcript. A short email of recommendation from the student’s graduate advisor should also be sent directly by the advisor. Deadline for applications, including email of recommendation is November 15, 2012. Awards will be announced in December, 2012.
