Global Studies 1 is an interdisciplinary class, team-taught by 10 faculty and includes guest speakers including former Secretary of State Warren Christopher and Chancellor Albert Carnesale
Introduction to the phenomenon of globalization.
Designed to introduce students to a broad range of cultural, economic, political, and social issues confronting today's globalized world. Course structured around three thematic categories-culture and society, governance and conflict, and markets- designed to capture the principal dimensions of the multifaceted connections among nation-states, non-governmental organizations, ethnic, cultural and religious groups, and populations around the world. P/NP or letter grading. Lecture three hours; discussion 1 hour.
