Daniel Posner writes and teaches about politics and the political economy of development in Africa. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters. His recent book, Institutions and Ethnic Politics in Africa (Cambridge 2005) won prizes from both the Comparative Politics section of the American Political Science Association and the African Politics Conference Group of the African Studies Association. He has been an Acadmey Scholar at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies (1995-98), a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford (2001-02), a Carnegie Scholar of the Carnegie Corporation of New York (2003-05), and is currently an invited fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford.
