The International Institute announces the availability of fellowship funding for outstanding incoming PhD students who intend to write dissertations on international topics.
The fellowship is valued at $5,000 for each of the student's first two years of graduate study. Up to eight (8) international fellowships will be awarded each year.
Chairs of graduate admissions should submit recommendations for potential fellows by March 4, 2011.
Recommendations should include all the candidate's application materials, as well as a letter of nomination from the chair of the relevant graduate admissions committee.
All departments and programs that award the PhD have the opportunity to compete for the opportunity to offer International Studies fellowships to their most highly regarded incoming students.
Departments may submit a maximum of two ranked applications to the International Institute. Departments with successful candidates will be notified by March 18, 2011.
International Studies fellowships are not transferable. If a student to whom a fellowship is awarded chooses not to come to UCLA, the fellowship returns to the International Institute for reallocation by the Vice Provost.
Please submit recommendations no later than March 4, 2011 to:
