Summer Program at a Buddhist Monastery in Taiwan

Fo Guang Shan monastery is offering a free summer month abroad to undergraduate and graduate students interested in Chinese (and Mahayana) Buddhism.

The Woodenfish project, which is nearing its tenth year, sponsors 50 students every summer who come and undergo monastic training in the order's main monastery in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. As well as three hours of academic coursework daily they also are trained in Zen meditation by practicing monastics and spend one week in silent retreat. It is *not* necessary to be a Buddhist or to speak Mandarin to attend; it is *not* necessary to be a religious studies, Asian studies or philosophy major to attend.
