
UCLA undergraduates and graduate students are invited to apply for a funded trip to Taiwan this summer
UCLA undergraduates and graduate students are invited to apply for a funded trip to Taiwan this summer. Award recipients will participate in the Global Initiatives Symposium, to be held July 12-16, 2010, in Taipei (details at http://gis-taiwan.ntu.edu.tw/). A round-trip economy-class air ticket from LAX to Taipei, as well as meals, accommodations, and transportation in Taiwan during the above period will be borne by the Los Angeles office of the Taiwan Economic and Culture Office. Applicants should be U.S. citizens and will handle their own visa applications if they are selected to participate.
TO APPLY:
All applicants should submit:
(1) A 1,500-word essay in English on the Emergence of New Giants: Evolution or Revolution. The essay should focus on one of three sub-topics: (a) Natural Resources: A Golden Apple for Emerging Countries; or (b) Emerging Countries at the Crossroads: Adoption of Green Technology; or (c) When East Meets West: New Perspectives on Asian Culture Expansion;
(2) A curriculum vitae (résumé)
The essay and curriculum vitae should be submitted to the Center for Chinese Studies (china@international.ucla.edu)
Be sure to include full contact information.
In the “from line” in your email, write “APPLICATION: Global Initiatives”
Deadline: Submit your essay and curriculum vitae by April 3, 2010. (Despite whatever it says on the website http://gis-taiwan.ntu.edu.tw, the deadline is April 3.)
