"The World in 2050: Four Forces Shaping Civilization's Northern Future," a new book by UCLA professor of geography Laurence Smith that argues that climate change and other global pressures will make Canada, Scandinavia, Russia and the northern United States formidable economic powers and migration magnets in the coming decades, was highlighted Monday by 89.3-KPCC FM and New Scientist and Saturday by Digital Journal.
