Professor Nile Green was awarded the Albert Hourani Book Award at the 2011 Middle East Studies Association annual meeting in Washington, DC.
Nile Green, professor of South Asian and Islamic History, was awarded the 2011 Albert Hourani Book Award at the annual Middle East Studies Association meeting in Washingtin, DC. The Hourani Book Award was established in 1991 to recognize outstanding publishing in the field of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies.
Green, who also leads the UCLA Program on Central Asia and was recently profiled in UCLA Today, received the award for his book Bombay Islam: The Religious Economy of the West Indian Ocean, 1840-1915, published by Cambridge University Press.
