What if most of my classmates come in with higher skills than me in the language? Am I graded against them?

No student will be measured or graded against any other student, but instead will only be measured by their own progress in the language throughout the course duration. Therefore, there is no need to feel intimidated by any other student's knowledge as it will not affect your own grade in the class.
