Campuswide OID Language TA workshops

This year, OID will offer special workshops specific for the Language TA in the Public Policy building. This event is only opened to UCLA Language TAs.

This year, OID will offer special workshops specific for the Language TA. OID has developed these workshops with the cooperation of the Language Resource Program and Language Department TA coordinators. The workshops will address the concerns and methodology common in teaching foreign languages.

Description of Language Workshops:

General Assembly

"No English Please: Teaching/Learning A Foreign Language Using an Immersion Method." All new language TAs are required to attend this section.

Workshop I

Workshop I consists of four micro-lessons. Each participating TA will pick two micro-lessons to attend. Each micro-lesson will be 40 minutes long and will be taught by an experienced language TA.

  • Use of Video and Listening Tapes
  • Making Vocabulary Learning Fun
  • Pair Work and Group Work
  • How to Teach Grammar

Workshop II

Everyone will attend each session listed below.

  • High Tech Visual Aids
  • Low Tech Visual Aids

Mail/Fax Pre-Registration:

Complete the registration form and mail or fax it by September 20th. Registration forms postmarked or faxes received after September 20th will not be processed. (Fax number: 310-267-4722)

Online Pre-Registration:

Before September 12th at 5:00 p.m. Email the completed registration form to webcammie@gmail.com

On-site registration:

For those who do not register by the deadline, workshops will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis on the day of the conference, September 27nd at 8:30am in Public Policy 1246.
