American Councils for International Education Fellowships for Research in Central Asia
Program Summary:
The American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS is currently accepting applications for the Title VIII Special Initiatives Fellowship, which provides fellowships of up to $35,000 for policy-relevant research in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Upon request, the American Councils for International Education provides visas, academic affiliation(s), housing, insurance, travel, and overseas logistical assistance to fellows.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a policy-relevant field; have held an academic research position for at least five years; and have sufficient language-ability to carry out their proposed research. Scholars must conduct research for at least four months in the field. The U.S. Department of State's Program for the Study of Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union provides funding for this program.

Fellowships of up to $35,000
Deadline
Application deadline for spring programs: October 15, 2002.
Application deadline for summer, fall and academic year programs: January 15, 2003
