Since 1993, The Center for European and Eurasian Studies has devoted its resources to the development of innovative research and teaching on Europe and Eurasia and supporting teachers through our various outreach activities.

CEES' primary goal is the internationalization of education, training a new generation of highly proficient specialists in an expanding Europe. CEES programs place particular emphasis on curriculum development, and ongoing training of teachers at the K-12 and post-secondary level.

Workshops, Seminars and Programs

CEES, Spanish and French in a Global Culture, July 23 - August 4, 2005 Workshop

A ten-day workshop for teachers of Spanish and French, funded in part by a grant from the US Department of Education.  The objective of this intensive summer workshop is to enrich the instruction of Spanish and French by providing content and materials that will help teachers of these commonly taught languages to communicate to their students the importance of these languages both in history and in the emerging global culture. CEES, History-Geography Annual Workshop Series and Summer Institute

CEES fulfills its commitment to K-12 teacher development with year round workshops and seminars, and new curriculum resources that are made available both on campus and in local classrooms. This year's program is Challenges to Democracies , a workshop series, and summer institute 2005, presented by The UCLA History-Geography Project, The California Geographic Alliance at UCLA, The Center for European and Eurasian Studies at UCLA.

UCLA International Institute Summer Workshop for Educators

For the past twenty summers, The UCLA International Institute has offered academic enrichment and professional development opportunities to hundreds of local K-12 educators. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the International Institute, the Summer Workshop incorporates a multidisciplinary area studies approach and offers analyses of major themes related to each global region, comparative and cross-regional perspectives, sessions dedicated to curriculum and resources, the Internet and New Media, as well as field trips, film presentations, and cultural activities.
