Visiting Instructor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Swarthmore College. At Swarthmore, he teaches Chinese language, literature and culture courses. Among his publications are the Shiu Tuo and Wang Zengqi entries in Dictionary of Literary Biography: Chinese Fiction Writers, 1949-2000 (Thomas Moran, ed.; Bruccoli, Clark, Layman, forthcoming); a translation of Liu Zaifu, "Farewell to the Gods: Contemporary Chinese Literary Theory's Fin-de-siècle Struggle," in Chinese Literature in the Second Half of a Modern Century: A Critical Survey (Pang-yuan Chi and David Der-wei Wang, eds; Indiana, 2000); and a translation of Qian Liqun, "An Overview of Chinese Theories of Fiction from the 1940s," Modern Chinese Literature 9 (1995).
