A Joint Course with the UCLA School of Law and the UCLA International Institute
In the Spring of 2004 the UCLA International Institute, in partnership with its Ronald W. Burkle Center, and the UCLA School of Law propose to create a unique colloquium series on Politics and International Law that will be open to law students, undergraduates of the UCLA College and the entire UCLA community.
This course begins with lectures on alternative theoretical approaches to understanding the relationship between politics and international law. The lectures will be followed by weekly presentations of a paper on politics and international law by leading law and political science scholars from the United States and abroad.
Each student must submit a 1-2 page paper critiquing each paper presented by a guest lecturer. Because student demand for the course is expected to be high and enrollment is limited, no student will be permitted to drop this course after enrolling in it. All lectures will be open to the campus community, but course enrollment is limited to thirty law students and ten Honors College students by permission of the instructor.
