Job Search: Analysts of Chinese Political Affairs

Eurasia Group seeks two political analysts, one at a more junior level and the other at a more senior level

Eurasia Group, an independent political risk consultancy, has announced two positions.

China Associate (in New York or Washington, DC)

This is a position for an experienced and motivated analyst of Chinese political affairs, to be located in the firm's New York or Washington, DC, office.

In this position, the incumbent will provide research assistance on current developments and future trends for analysts in the Asia practice, focusing on China. A deep knowledge of the Chinese economy is highly desirable, including knowledge of macroeconomic issues and specific sectors. As experience is gained, the incumbant will conduct independent research, conduct media interviews and engage in direct client contact. Eventual promotion to analyst or research manager is a possibility.

At minimum, a BA in political science or relevant field is required; an MA is preferred. Mandarin Chinese language fluency is required. Applicants should have at least one year's field experience in the region, as well as excellent research capabilities and analytic and writing skills, at native English standard. Applicants must have the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing demands. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

China Analyst (New York or DC)

This position involves assessing the political risks flowing from political, security, and economic developments in China of relevance to Eurasia Group's financial, corporate, and government clients. The incumbent must have, or will develop, the ability to analyze specific sectors of the Chinese economy. The incumbent will alsol perform in-depth research and will write both short analyses and longer papers. The incumbant will frequently brief both private sector and government clients, and will therefore have excellent analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills. The incumbant must understand deadlines and write in a good, succinct style at native English standard.

Applicants must have at least an MA in political science or a relevant field (PhD preferred). Fluent Mandarin Chinese skills are required, and a minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience. One year of relevant in-country experience is preferred. Applications from more senior applicants are also welcomed. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
