The Freeman Foundation has made a one year grant of $133,000 to the Center for East Asian Studies to facilitate three teacher training programs in the San Gabriel Valley.
Beginning this month, the Center for East Asian Studies is providing 36 hours of Asian studies and new media training for 75 teachers in three San Gabriel Valley school districts. Presentations by area experts focuses on preparing secondary school teachers to introduce Asia to their students and to make effective use of web technologies. Alhambra, Walnut, and Hacienda-LaPuente school districts have selected the social studies and language arts teachers to be trained and are providing the training facilities. This training program is part of the Freeman Foundation supported National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. You can see seminar schedules, list of initial participants, and learn more about the participating school districts at the seminar website.
