Course Description
A concentrated look at the major schools and masters of Chinese art (primarily painting) from the turn of the twentieth century to the present, focusing on the interaction with foreign cultures, and the issues of self-identity, assimilation, modernity, tradition, and continuity. Recent developments in Chinese art in the global context will also be considered.
