A public lecture by Suad Amiry, Director of Riwaq: the Centre for Architectural Conservation, Palestine, delivered on April 8, 2008, discussing her new book "No Sex In the City."
Suad Amiry is the Founder and Director of Riwaq: the Centre for Architectural Conservation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring Palestinian buildings. She studied architecture at the American University of Beirut, the University of Michigan and the University of Edinburgh and taught at Birzeit University. She participated in the 1991-1993 Israeli-Palestinian Peace negotiations in Washington, D.C., and later served as the Assistant Deputy Minister and Director General of the Ministry of Culture in Palestine. She is also the author of Sharon and my Mother-in-Law: Ramallah Diaries (2005), which has been translated into 11 languages, and was awarded the prestigious Viareggio Prize in Italy.
