SPEAR YOUR NAME WITH A SAMURI SWORD |
GUIDELINES: Complement the study of the Medieval Japan and Samuri Develop repetitive patterns and color schemes Show an understanding of perspective by interlacing one object through. Build self esteem through original ideas and identification with name on portfolio |
Create at least 3 styles of lettering for your name (first or last) or initials (3). Letters must be open space, no perspective and readable. Choose your best and enlarge on 12x18 newsprint. Leave enough room for handle and tip of sword. Draw sword on top of letters and then erase to show the weaving. All letters must be hanging on sword but some provide "holes" and "legs" to hang from without slicing through. Outline in black and trace on white paper. |

Plan patterns in harmony with style of letters. Divide the letters into 3 sections, each section to have a pattern or one plain. Color with markers, limiting colors to 3-5 not counting black. Leave the sword black and white with maybe a touch of accent on the handle. |
