Following an undersea earthquake that occurred on Dec. 26, a giant tsunami devastated coastlines across south Asia, causing mass destruction and killing more than 100,000 people. On the same day, Eugene Kim and Faye Wachs were in Thailand. When the first waves crashed against the shore, the two were scuba diving off Ko Phi Phi island. Surfacing amid the catastrophe, they immediately began helping the injured. Kim and Wachs recently returned to Los Angeles where they reside.

On Thursday, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m., the couple will talk about their personal experiences, and share images of the Tsunami and its aftermath. In addition, they will discuss disaster relief efforts. The presentation will be held in UCLA Public Policy Building, room 2355.

Kim and Wachs recently returned to Santa Monica where they reside.

Cost: Free and open to the public
