The Music Circle presents a noonday concert with Rajan and Sajan Mishra accompanied by Kumar Bose
The Mishra Brothers, currently recognized as two of the most highly acclaimed vocal artists in India today will be joined by Kumar Bose on tabla and Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra in a vocal concert dedicated to the memory of 9/11. From a prominent musical family having a 300 year old lineage in the great Banaras tradition, Rajan and Sajan Mishra demonstrated their natural talent early as well as a beautiful understanding between themselves that emerged to make their extraordinary musical style. Since their first concert as teens, awards, accolades and critical acclaim have come their way from all of India as well as Europe, the USSR, Asia and the United States. Their many recordings are sought after by connoisseurs and students of music alike for the richness in quality of their music.
Also from a gifted musical family, Pandit Kumar Bose was initiated on tabla by his father, Pandit Biswanath Bose. The superiority of his genius is his ability to evolve a distinctive style of his own without diluting the purity of tradition. He is known for using the bass drum (Bnaya) in a exceptionally melodious manner. As well as a drum soloist on a variety of Indian drums, Kumar Bose is particularly sought after as an accompanist by all the major celebrity artists. He also performs many different kinds of world music from western classical to Jazz, Pop and Rock.
Ritesh and Rajnish, sons of Rajan Mishra, will join the performance. Studying with their father, uncle and grandfather, they have acquired a deep knowledge of the various classical forms of their Indian musical tradition. In their own right, they have a large repertoire of compositions which they render in their melodious voices and near perfect timing.
