The Nrityodaya Kathak Academy presents Darbar-e Aaina, reflections of the court, a kathak dance production by Guru Bhairavi Kumar and company. Kathak is the classical dance style of Northern India and one of its major schools developed in the courts of Lucknow. Bhairavi Kumar, director and founder of the Nrityodaya Kathak Academy, has been teaching kathak in the Los Angeles area for over twenty years earning a distinguished reputation as a traditional and dedicated teacher/performer among her colleagues and pupils. Her devotion is fueled by her continuous innovations that can be witnessed through her choreography and performance. This program is held in conjunction with the exhibition India’s Fabled City: The Art of Courtly Lucknow.
