Dr. Kar is a Professor Emeritus of Public Health and of Asian American Studies at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He is the Founding Director of the Executive style MPH for Health Professionals (MPHHP) program at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. He joined the UCLA as a full Professor in 1979 and had advanced to the highest step in that rank over a decade ago. Most recently, Dr. Kar served as the Distinguished Professor and Academic Advisor at the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) for assisting the PHFI in establishing academic degree programs and 6-8 schools of public health in India.
