Government and Foundation Support to the Institute
The Institute and its affiliated centers receive important funding from the federal government and from charitable foundations. These grants and donations testify to the national excellence of the programs administered by the UCLA International Institute. The U.S. Department of Education committed recognized six of the Institute's centers as Centers of Excellence for their efforts in teaching, research and community programs (African Studies Center, Europe and Eurasian Studies, the Latin American Center, the Center for Near Eastern Studies, the East Asia program of the Asia Institute, and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies).
