Arlene B. Tickner is a Professor in the School of International, Political and Urban Studies at the Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia. Her main areas of research include sociology of knowledge and non-Western thinking in the field of International Relations, Latin American and hemispheric security, Colombian foreign policy, and Colombian-United States relations. In addition to her academic work she also writes a weekly newspaper column in the Colombian daily, El Espectador.

During her time at the Latin American Institute professor Tickner will conduct research for a book manuscript on theoretical, epistemological and ontological alternatives in International Relations, in which Latin American decolonial studies figure prominently. She also hopes to meet with professors and students interested in Latin American security and foreign policy issues.
