The Euro and the Future of Europe

David Andrews is Professor of International Relations, Director of the European Union Center of California, and Gabrielle Marie-Louise Jungels-Winkler Chair in Contemporary European Studies at Scripps College. Professor Andrews’ research concerns Atlantic political, security, and economic relations; economic statecraft and international economic governance; and European integration, especially monetary integration. He is the author of Orderly Change: International Monetary Relations since Bretton Woods (Cornell University Press, 2008), International Monetary Power (Cornell University Press, 2006), The Alliance under Stress: Atlantic Relations after Iraq (Cambridge University Press, 2005), and Governing the World’s Money (Cornell University Press, 2002). His current book project examines the complex ambitions that led European governments to commit to establishing a single currency.
