City Living: Reimagining Urban Ecologies
Monday, October 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Royce Hall, Room 306, UCLA
This public conversation will bring together French and American scholars, policymakers, and urban-design leaders to consider a question of particular importance for Los Angeles and cities around the world: how can we design more sustainable, resilient, and livable urban environments.
The panel will feature:
Aminata Niakaté, Deputy Mayor of Paris for green development and biodiversity;
Éric Daniel-Lacombe, architect, urbanist, author, and Chair in “New Forms of Urban Living in the Face of Natural Disasters” at ENSAP;
Kian Goh, Associate Professor of Urban Planning at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs;
Frances Anderton, writer, broadcaster, curator, and former host of KCRW’s DnA: Design and Architecture, who will moderate the conversation.
The discussion will explore ecological approaches to urban planning and design, biodiversity, climate resilience, renewable economies, and the transformation of built environments. We believe it will offer an especially timely opportunity to connect perspectives from Paris, France, Los Angeles, and UCLA around challenges that are both global and local.
The conversation will be followed by a Q&A and reception. RSVP is required through Eventbrite.
