Dr. Stein, who completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship with the Center, will also continue teaching in her field of political science.

Dr. Elizabeth Stein has been appointed to a new position of Associate Director at the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center, effective September 1, 2026. In this senior academic and administrative role, Dr. Stein will work closely with the Center director to develop and grow the Center’s public and academic programs and research initiatives, including international partnerships; expand its community outreach and fundraising; and manage a range of administrative responsibilities. She will also continue teaching in her field of political science.

For the past three years, Dr. Stein has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Nazarian Center. Her research focuses on the political attitudes and behaviors of diaspora Jews with regard to Israel, foreign policymaking, and antisemitism, as well as ethnic minority politics broadly. During her fellowship, she published scholarly articles, and led the Center’s Israel Studies Research Workshop Series and its Annual Undergraduate Scholars Conference in Israel Studies. She is currently finishing a manuscript for NYU Press which examines organizational cohesion and division among American, French, and Canadian Jew over the last several decades. Each year, Dr. Stein has also taught the popular course "Special Studies in International Relations: Diaspora Politics" in the UCLA Department of Political Science. 

As we welcome Dr. Stein into this new role, we’re also pleased to share the news that the Center’s long-time Executive Director Maura Resnick, though opting to leave her full-time role, has agreed to stay on in a part-time capacity as Senior Advisor to the Director. In this role, Maura will advise on and work to implement new strategic initiatives, further the Center’s development goals, and expand its cultural programming.
