Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion, at Truman State University. Among her publications are three articles--"Monk Taixu (1890-1947)," "Monk Dahui Zonggao (1089-1163),"and "The Treatise of Awakening of Faith in Mahayana Teaching"--for the Encyclopedia of Buddhism (editor-in-chief, Robert E. Buswell, UCLA),  (New York: Macmillan Reference, 2003); three articles--"Chinese Buddhism," "Pure Land Buddhism," and "Zen Buddhism"--in  Encyclopedia of Modern Asia (David Levinson and Karen Christensen, et al., eds.; Charles Scribner's Sons, 2002), "Buddhist Nuns in Sung China (960-1279)," Journal of Sung-Yüan Studies 30 (2000); "Images of Women in Ch'an/Zen Buddhist Literature of the Sung Period" in Buddhism in the Sung (Peter Gregory and Daniel Getz , eds; Hawaii Press, 1999). Professor Hsieh is a member of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
