Virginia C. Li will talk about her new book From One Root Many Flowers: A Century of Family Life in China and America (Prometheus, 2003), and sign copies.
Virginia C. Li (professor in the UCLA School of Public Health) has woven together the fascinating story of her family -- concentrating on her remarkable parents (her father was the governor of the province of Guangdong during the Sino-Japanese War) -- and the engrossing history of China in the twentieth century
. The result is an extraordinarily rich and complex fabric.
