Emmanuel Lincot received the his doctorate in history and semiology from the University of Paris VII in 2003. He was a participant in an archeological dig in northern Syria (1990), conducted research on Balkan contemporary pictorial art with the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (1993-1995), studied at the University of Wuhan (1995-1996), and worked in tghe French embassy in Beijing (1996-1998).
