
Heroic Grace: The Chinese Martial Arts Film, Part II
UCLA Film and Television Archive will showcase from Nov. 17 to Dec. 11 a selection of Hong Kong Martial Arts, Kung Fu films, and Wuxia films from studios like Cathay, Shaw Brothers, and Golden Harvest.

Heroic Grace II film series, which runs from November 17 to December 11, 2005, focuses on the creative period in the 1970s and 1980s when kung fu films entered into popular culture. This film series will look at the careers of various directors, including those who began working for major studios and then branched out toward independent companies or countries such as Taiwan and South Korea.
In addition these films were star-driven. The films will spotlight career highlights through restorations or archival prints.
The film series will look at the heroic women of this time, who entered the mythic realm of the martial arts jiang hu ("rivers and lakes").
Heroic Grace II will allow viewers to rediscover the best, but rarely seen works of these directors, actors, and actresses.
