Eric Hayot (Ph.D., English and Comparative Literature, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 1999) is Associate Professor of English at the University of Arizona. Professor Hayot is spending the 2005–06 academic year as a Global Fellow at the UCLA International Institute. He is the author of, among others, Chinese Dreams: Pound, Brecht, Tel Quel (University of Michigan Press, 2003), and is now
writing a book on Western responses to Chinese people in pain. In the spring, he will teach UCLA courses on literary theory and Chinese and American poetry.
