The French Film & TV Department of the French Consulate in Los Angeles presents a special screening of “Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress,” by Dai Sijie, at the Los Angeles Film School.

Zhou Xun, star of “Beijing Bicycle” and “Suzhou River,” leads a superb cast in this evocation of a time and place that haunt Dai Sijie, and China, to this day. Dai Sijie’s poignant, and largely autobiographical coming-of-age tale, based on his best-selling novel, translated into 25 languages, reminds us that love can blossom where one least expects it.

Lise Fayolle, the producer, will attend the screening and host a Q&A session following the screening.
