You-tian Hsing (PhD, UC Berkeley) is Associate Professor of Geography at UC Berkeley. Her research interests include economic restructuring and local states in post-Mao China, the work of overseas Chinese capital networks, and technology development in Asia's newly industrialized economies. She is the author of Making Capitalism in China: The Taiwan Connection (Oxford University Press, 1998), and coeditor (with Ching Kwan Lee) of Reclaiming Chinese Society: Politics of Redistribution, Recognition, and Representation (Routledge, forthcoming).
