An Evening with Karen Han

Internationally renowned erhu virtuoso Karen Hua-Qi Han presents a captivating performance on this ancient Chinese, two-stringed instrument.  A concert soloist performing worldwide, Han has collaborated with the Paris Opera Orchestra, the New York Pops Orchestra, and the London Royal Philharmonic.

 

Ms. Han also recorded for many major Hollywood films including The Last Emperor, Memoirs of a Geisha, Pirates of the Caribbean, Kung Fu Panda, Star Trek and The Hurt locker.

 

In addition to her performance, Ms. Han will give a brief presentation on the background of the Erhu and its historical significance in Chinese music.  An ensemble of musicians

will also be invited to play on stage, each presenting an unique Chinese instrument.

 

Ticket includes admission to the Huntington exhibition “Treasures through Six Generations” between 5:30 pm and 6:45 pm, prior to the performance. Light refreshments will follow the performance and participants will have a chance to meet the performing artists.

 

Huntington Members: $25.  Non-Members: $35.
