Double Majoring
In order to formally declare a double major, the College of Letters & Science requires that you first have completed all preparation requirements and a minimum of two upper division courses for each major.
Once the coursework has been completed, and the final grades are posted to your study list, visit your College Advising Unit (e.g., College Academic Counseling, AAP, College Honors, Athletics) to obtain double major petitioning paperwork. Then, be sure to meet with the Academic Counselors for both majors to verify remaining requirements for each major, as well obtain an "Undergraduate Petition for a Change of Major" form which each Academic Counselor will sign. Once you have met with counselors for both majors, you will then submit all signed petition forms and DPRs modeled for both majors to your College Advising Unit for approval.
Note that the College maintains a unit limit within which students must complete all degree requirements, generally 216 plus any AP units, or completion of all work within normative time, which is four years and a summer for freshmen, two years and a summer for transfer students. The College allows up to five upper division courses to overlap between two majors. Please consult the College Academic Counseling website for more information on double majoring.
