"The Chevalier" movie most recently placed Chevalier de Saint-Georges center stage entertaining millions of movie buffs about the French virtuoso violinist and prolific Composer for Queen Marie Antoinette.

Born in 1745 in Guadelupe on a slave plantation to a Senegalese slave mother, Nanon, Chevalier rose from the humblest of beginnings to conduct the finest orchestras appointed by French royals.

Celebrate Chevalier's masterpieces on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at UCLA's Fowler Museum with the Afro-American Chamber Music Society Orchestra, led by Maestro Vince Womack.

Virtuoso Juilliard-trained violinist, Ashley Horne of New York will mesmerize the audience in two Chevalier Concertos: Opus 5, No. 2 in A major. Local artists will join the celebration showcasing operatic arias, symphonies and instrumental sonatas for flute and harpsichord.

This performance is supported, in part, by Third District Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the LA County Department of Arts and Culture, and the UCLA African Studies Center.

Tickets range from $10 (students with ID); $25 (general admission); $60 (VIP seating). A reception will be held immediately after the concert.
