At the November 6-18 UN COP 27 climate change conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the world’s countries will once again come together to discuss progress toward our meeting our collective climate goals as outlined in the Paris Agreement. The Amazon rainforest, and Brazil, the country where most of it lies, will once again be at the center of attention. Climate scientist Raoni Rajão will discuss Brazil’s role in COP 27 and the effects its October 30 presidential election might have on the Amazon and climate change moving forward.
Speaker:
Raoni Rajão, Department of Production Engineering, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais
Rajão’s research focuses on the relation between science, technology and policy, with an emphasis on environmental policy evaluation and the study of the role of ICT (information and communication technologies) in deforestation control policies and payment for environmental services.
