ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Bari Weiss is the founder and editor of The Free Press and editor-in-chief of CBS News. She is the winner of the LA Press Club's 2021 Daniel Pearl Award, Reason Foundation’s 2018 Bastiat Prize, and The Dao Prize for The Free Press’s work on the Twitter Files. In 2019, Vanity Fair called Weiss the Times's "star opinion writer." Her first book, "How to Fight Anti-Semitism," was the winner of a 2019 National Jewish Book Award.

 

 

ABOUT THE MODERATOR

A native Californian, Jim Newton is a veteran journalist, author and teacher. In 25 years at the Los Angeles Times, Newton worked as a reporter, editor, bureau chief, columnist and, from 2007 through 2010, editor of the editorial pages. He joined UCLA in 2015 to teach in Communication Studies and Public Policy and to found Blueprint, a UCLA magazine addressing the policy challenges facing California and Los Angeles in particular. The magazine has been recognized for editorial and design excellence, and he serves as its editor-in-chief.

  • There will be no wait-list or stand-by line on the day of the event.
  • The nearest parking structure is UCLA parking lot 2 (Westholme Ave / Charles E Young Drive East)

 

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS

Attendees can purchase a $17 UCLA day permit in advance for parking lot 2 via the Bruin ePermit website. Scroll down to "UCLA Campus Event" and select the Daniel Pearl Memorial Lecture.
