Vera Estrada Burrows is a UCLA Departmental Scholar who has completed all the course work for a B.A. in Comparative Literature and in English with Creative Writing. She is finishing up a research and comparative project on female archetypes in García Márquez's Cien Años de Soledad and Isabel Allende's La Casa de los Espíritus, and her research paper involving Éowyn of Rohan's gender role issues in The Lord of Rings Trilogy is in its final stages.

Vera's next research project studies political paranoia in literature during Guatemala's dictatorships, and it is currently in its planning stages.
