STARTING OCTOBER 31ST, 2017, UCLA WILL REQUIRE TWO STEP AUTHENTICATION FOR USING YOUR BRUIN LOGON ID.
Below is a tutorial on MFA and how to sign up. If you have any questions, please visit the International Institute help desk in 11252 Bunche Hall.
WHAT IS MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)?
MFA stands for multi-factor authentication and is sometimes called 2-step or 2-factor authentication. MFA provides an extra layer of security when logging into websites and applications by requiring an additional form of identification to gain access.
WHAT DO I NEED TO ENROLL IN MFA?
MFA requires that you use two authentication factors, or two different ways to prove your identity. At UCLA, an authentication factor can be something you know (like your password) or a device you have (like a phone or token device). Your UCLA Logon password will be your first authentication factor. You will be able to choose one of the following to be your second authentication factor:
- A token device
- A phone call to your landline phone
- A text message or phone call to your cell phone
- The DUO app on your smartphone or tablet
HOW DO I ENROLL IN MFA?
Go to https://my.logon.ucla.edu and log in with your UCLA Logon ID. Then follow the directions below...
- Enroll a token device:
Request a token from the help desk at 11252 Bunche Hall. We will provide assistance with set up.
- Enroll a landline phone:
Click on Landline and enter a name for your phone and the phone number.
Click Activate with phone call.
You will receive a phone call with a code, enter that code into the confirmation screen.
From now on, if you choose this as the second verification, you will receive a phone call and can simply hit any key on your phone to log into the application.
- Enroll a cell phone for text messages or phone calls
Click on Cellular phone and enter a name for your phone and the phone number.
Click on Activate with SMS or Activate with phone call.
- Enroll a smartphone for the Duo app
Follow these directions.
