Who is eligible for UCLA Slack?
- UCLA students, faculty, and staff are eligible for UCLA Slack and can be invited to the International Institute workspace as full members.
- Ineligible people can still be invited as single-channel guests (added to one public or private channel on the workspace). Please contact the IT Help Desk at: help@international.ucla.edu for assistance.
How to install the Slack desktop app
For Windows devices:
1. Go to: https://slack.com/downloads/windows
2. Click Download under Slack for Windows.
3. Once the Slack installer is done downloading, run it to install Slack.
For Mac devices:
1. Open the App Store.
2. Search for and Install Slack.
How to log into UCLA Slack
1. Go to: ucla.slack.com
2. Click Sign in with your UCLA Logon ID and then sign in.
3. Click on the workspace name UCLA Campus Co... in the top-left to open a menu. Go to Switch workspaces and click UCLA International Institute. If you don't see this option, go to Add workspaces and click Find more University of California, L... Find and open the UCLA International Institute workspace.
Note: If you are unable to find the UCLA International Institute workspace, you have not been invited to the workspace yet. Please contact the IT Help Desk at: help@international.ucla.edu for an invite.
4. After switching to the UCLA International Institute workspace, click on the workspace name in the top-left then click Open the Slack App. If you see a popup asking to "Open Slack?", click Open Slack. This will bring up your Slack desktop app and connect it to the Institute's workspace.
