Diplomats from Australia, Egypt, France, Mexico and Romania speak as part of campus's International Education Week.

In cooperation with the Los Angeles Consular Corps Executive Committee, the UCLA International Institute hosted the annual UCLA Global Conversation as part of International Education Week. This year's event featured remarks from UCLA Chancellor Gene Block on "Global Challenges, Local Responses," and a moderated panel discussion among four consuls general who addressed the topic from the perspectives of their respective countries.
Event attendees included members of the LA Consular Corps, campus leaders, faculty, staff and students. The event was well attended, and due to limited space was by invitation only. Vice Provost Cindy Fan opened the event, and Dean of the LA Consular Corps and Consul General of Romania Cosmin Dumitrescu offered introductory remarks. Panelists included the Consul General of Australia Jane Duke, Consul General of Egypt Ahmed Shaheen, Consul General of France Julie Duhaut-Bedos, and Consul General of Mexico Marcela Celorio. Vice Provost Fan moderated.
