BBC Global News, September 9, 2008
On Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at 8PM, Burkle Center Senior Fellow Dr. Kantathi Suphamongkhon joined a group of panelists in a program called "Talking America, What the World Expects." This discussion was aired live on KPCC News Radio (89.3).
The discussion launched the BBC Global News US08 Election bus tour across America. For five weeks after the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the BBC bus travels the U.S. and uses Web, radio and television journalists and technology to link Americans with the wider world. Stopping in Los Angeles on September 9, 2008, the bus tour offered a unique chance to share what America is talking about with the world, and to connect Americans with people across the globe. The panel discussion, with questions from the audience, was broadcast live on 89.3 KPCC. The political discussion was hosted by AirTalk host, Larry Mantle and by Ros Atkins of the BBC.
Starting in Los Angeles, traveling across the southern states and up the eastern seaboard, and ending in New York at the final presidential debate, broadcasts from the BBC's U.S. Election '08 Bus Tour is a collaborative effort. World Service Radio's reporting teams will be joined by U.S. radio stations, universities, community groups and individuals. The tour will also be an integrated multi-media operation, marking a new level of cooperation and integration among the BBC's World Service radio, News-online and World TV, principally "World News America."
