The Younes & Soraya Nazarian Center for Israel Studies leads the way in the study of Israel as a modern Jewish and democratic state. It fosters a broad understanding of Israel's rich history, culture and society. Brief History
Originally founded in 2005 as the UCLA Israel Studies Program, the UCLA Younes & Soraya Nazarian Center for Israel Studies is one of the nation's premier centers for education and research about the history, culture, and society of Israel. The UCLA Younes & Soraya Nazarian Center for Israel Studies is the first full-fledged center of its kind on the West Coast and one of three Israel Studies centers that are named and endowed in the nation.
Strategic Goals
The Center focuses on three goals in order to promote a firm understanding of Israel:
- enhancement of undergraduate and graduate instruction;
- hosting of visiting and permanent faculty;
- develop programs and conferences on campus and in the community.
