Following an impressive election victory, the Israeli Prime Minister is currently juggling the delicate task of building a new Israeli coalition; at the same time, he is also navigating the stormy waters of US-Israel relations and trying to counter an international rush to an agreement with Iran that he believe is dangerous for Israel. Can he do all these three things and achieve all of his goals - or will he have to prioritize and compromise as the tasks are too many, and the complications too big, for him to overcome? In this lecture, Jewish Journal political analyst Shmuel Rosner will reflect on the 2015 Israeli elections and discuss the new Israeli government.

Shmuel Rosner is a columnist, editor, and researcher based in Tel Aviv. He is a contributing opinion columnist for The International New York Times and political editor of the LA Jewish Journal for which he writes his blog Rosner's Domain. He is also a senior fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) and the chief nonfiction editor for Kinneret-Zmora-Dvir, the leading Israeli book publisher.

Rosner was previously a columnist for The Jerusalem Post (2008-2011) and was chief United States correspondent, head of the news division and head of the features division at the daily newspaper Haaretz, where he worked from 1996 to 2008. He has written for many publications, including Slate, Foreign Policy, Commentary, The New Republic, and The Jewish Review of Books.

Rosner is the author of two books: “Shtetl Bagel Baseball, on the Wonderful Dreadful State of American Jews” (Hebrew, Keter, 2011) and “The Jewish Vote: Obama vs. Romney, A Jewish Voter’s Guide” (English, Jewish Journal Books, 2012).
