The Harry C. Sigman Graduate Fellow
Avery Weinman is a PhD student in the UCLA Department of History and the Harry C. Sigman Graduate Fellow at the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies. She received her B.A. in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2019, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of UCSC’s Leviathan Jewish Journal. In general, she studies Jewish history in the modern Middle East and North Africa. In particular, she researches Sephardi and Mizrahi youth in the Irgun and Lehi in British Mandatory Palestine and the greater Levant, with interest in how they conceived of discourses of belonging, indigeneity, and anti-imperialism.
