2022–23 Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Shils recently completed his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. His areas of research include nationalism and ethnic politics, peace and conflict processes, power sharing in divided places, state building, settler colonialism and indigenous politics and comparative and international politics of the Middle East. He has taught various courses on the Middle East, international law and settler colonialism at the University of Pennsylvania and Bryn Mawr College. During his time at the Nazarian Center, Dr. Shils will be working with Dr. Waxman on his research project, “Strategy and Politics in the Transformation of Israeli–Palestinian Relations After Oslo” as well as teaching a new course in Global Studies, "Conflict and Power Sharing in Deeply Divided Places."
